14 Dec Holidays are a time for family, fun and reflection
It is that time of year – again. The joys of the holidays can feel like a mixed blessing. While it is a time to celebrate with family and friends, the wide array of obligations and expectations can be daunting. Cooking, cleaning, gift wrapping and decorations may feel a bit overwhelming year after year. If you are retired and still living in a large family home, it might not be as much fun as it once was.
This season could be the right opportunity to speak with family about making a change. While some are often reluctant to leave a home filled with memories and heirlooms, the reality is that many of those rooms and belongings go unused. The kitchen and bathrooms require updating and that big backyard needs constant maintenance. In addition, the stairs may not be as easy or safe as they once were.
You may still feel like you can do it all, but should you? Many older adults hold onto a large home for one or two annual gatherings. They think it’s for the kids. Knowing when it is time to downsize may be the best gift you can give your children. While any move will require some effort, there are solutions. Most of which garner the response – “I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner.” One such example is Heritage on the Marina.
Heritage on the Marina is a Life Plan Community, which means you move in when you are active and independent. Additional levels of support services are available as needed. The newly remodeled one and two-bedroom apartments have carefully designed bathrooms with roll-in showers and well-equipped kitchenettes. However, if you would prefer not to cook, you can choose to enjoy delicious and nutritious meals in the main dining room daily. Plus, there are many great restaurants only a few blocks away.
In addition to all-day dining options onsite, most utilities, weekly cleaning, activities, van services and more are included. Our Maintenance Team will make sure you never need to climb a ladder or change another lightbulb again.
Designed by acclaimed architect Julia Morgan, Heritage on the Marina is a San Francisco historic landmark ideally located and surrounded by parks, views of the Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Mason and The Palace of Fine Arts. It is minutes from the Opera, the Ballet, museums, shops on Union and Chestnut Streets and the Marin Headlands.
Friends and family members are always welcome to share in the opulent yet warm atmosphere. Tell stories around the fireplace, spend time together in the manicured gardens or just relax in the privacy of your new home. Just think: next year you could be redefining Holiday Cheer at Heritage on the Marina.
Make a resolution to approach 2022 differently, while you are still in control. To learn more and to schedule a tour, call Janet Howell at (415) 202-0307 or visit HeritageOnTheMarina.org
